Complete and submit a questionnaire and a copy of your Driver’s License to wchsadopt@gmail.com with your first and last name and the cat you are interested in!
Wood County Humane Society and Toledo Animal Rescue oversee all adoptions. Visit our homepage for a list of cats available. If you are interested in adopting one of our house cats, please email us at tabbyandfidos@gmail.com.
You must pay the cat lounge entry fee to meet the cats before adoption, with no exceptions. You must be 18+. You can get pre-approved by completing an application online (see info above). "Same-day" adoptions are only available if there is enough time in the day. Applying does not guarantee that the specific kitty you're interested in will still be available when your application is complete. Applications must be approved before a cat is put "on hold" for someone. We encourage pre-approval to make the process smoother if you're ready to adopt a new family member!
A member of the WCHS/TAR team will give you a call after your application is submitted to discuss the pet’s specific needs and whether the pet will be a good fit for your lifestyle, and potentially discuss other pets as well.
Cats 6 months and older are $60 (WCHS) and $85 (TAR).
All cats receive vaccinations, deworming, FIV/FeLV/Heartworm testing, flea/tick preventative, and microchipping, and are spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. We highly encourage you to make an initial visit at your vet when bringing home your new cat within the first two weeks. This allows your vet to get a baseline on the cat's health as well as form a relationship between your new cat and your vet.
After your application is approved and all paperwork is done, you will email us to schedule a time to pick up your new cat. You must show the Tabby staff your adoption paperwork and receipt to take your kitty home. You will be asked to bring a secure pet carrier or you can purchase one of our cardboard carriers for $7. Now you're ready to go home!
Allow your new cat time to adjust to its new family and surroundings. Some cats adjust more quickly than others. WCHS and TAR perform post-adoption follow-up calls to see how everyone is adjusting. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact them! WCHS/TAR welcomes all of their adopted cats back, but all efforts must be made to work through any issues that may arise, and an appointment must be set up for re-entry.
WCHS/TAR kindly asks for a 24-hour grace period. They are working hard for everyone involved and appreciate your patience!
Your kitty is used to eating Purina Cat Chow and Hills. You are welcome to change this at your home but they suggest starting this way. Cats love stimulation, so don't forget to shop for some catnip and toys!
